LAS VEGAS — Hip-hop guru FunkMaster Flex has customized a 2007 Ford Expedition to give it a more aggressive look, and just in time for the 2006 SEMA show.Without Funkmaster Flex, the $3 billion automobile aftermarket business would probably be worth no more than, say, $2.7 billion -- tops. That's probably why Ford's backed its private Brinks truck up to FunkMaster Flex's crib for two years running. This year, FunkMaster Flex signed his name to a customized 2007 Expedition that Ford plans to show off at the SEMA show. Already notorious for tuning celebrity rides, FunkMaster Flex will showcase his singular interpretation of the all-new 2007 Ford Expedition. |

| The 2007 Ford Expedition FunkMaster Flex concept features a Street Scene body kit, 24-inch wheels, two-tone black-and-red fire paint, and a custom interior including de rigeur DVD screens and a high-performance audio system. The concept is part of the automaker's ongoing marketing relationship with the customizing guru — a partnership that was announced in May 2005. No word on whether the truck will also show up as a special marshmallow in Lucky Charms or as a guest character on "According to Jim." |

The redesigned 2007 Ford Expedition is powered by a 5.4-liter V8 that delivers 300 horsepower and 365 pound-feet of torque. The engine is mated to a standard six-speed automatic transmission. The production 2007 Ford Expedition tows up to 9200 pounds.
Ford said it selected FunkMaster Flex to be the first customizer of the 2007 Ford Expedition, following his work with other Ford products like the 2006 Ford F-150, Fusion and Mustang. |

What this means to you: Ford execs are watching the crowd reaction to the Flex-Pedition at SEMA with an eye to rolling one out on the street at some point.
Our take? A regular 2007 Ford Expedition already illicits concern when seen in the rearview mirror. We feel, though, one modified by FunkMaster Flex adds "intimidating" or "that's one scary muther" to its description. |
