Nissan Press Release:

MICRA IMPROVEMENTS

One of the best known small cars in the market today, the Nissan Micra, is undergoing a revamp for 2008 with changes to the styling, additions to the equipment list and a new grade structure – adding even further to Micra’s value for money proposition. The Micra Coupe-Convertible (C+C)

also follows with the same upgrades as the Micra hatchback with both going on sale from 1 October.

The new grade line up simplifies the range with both hatchback and C+C using familiar names taken from the NOTE and QASHQAI:

INITIA (URBIS on C+C) changes to VISIA

SPIRITA (SPORT on C+C) moves to ACENTA
SPORT (ESSENZA on C+C) to TEKNA
SPORT SR (hatchback only) returns to the previous name of 160SR
ACTIVE LUXURY continues on both hatchback and C+C.

To celebrate this new line up Nissan is also offering a special version for a limited time called ACENTA + on the hatchback version – based on the ACENTA but offering 15 inch TEKNA styled alloy wheels, in-place of the steels, for an additional £200 on top of the standard ACENTA price.

The first visual change to styling can be seen on the front grille which moves away from the chrome centre line over to a chrome surround, providing a cleaner and fresher look. This continues with the front headlamps that now have a less profound profile to the parking aid making it smoother and incorporating a light blue tint. The sporty front bumper, as first seen on the 160SR, has now been installed from the ACENTA upwards and standard on C+C. Additional changes have been made to the B Pillar trim (hatchback only) which is no longer colour coded giving an improved side profile. The wheel cover designs on VISIA and ACENTA have also been restyled.

A new colour known as faded denim taken from the QASHQAI palette has now been included as an option, replacing Thunder Quartz.

The interior trim receives a more conservative colour treatment with black now available on all grades except ACTIVE LUXURY. However, for a much lighter and vibrant environment there is a choice of beige trim on the ACENTA and TEKNA incorporating a tastefully coloured chocolate flash across the dash panel and door trims. The seats are now sports sculptured for all C+C’s and from ACENTA upwards for the hatchback.

A new feature to Micra, standard on C+C and from ACENTA on the hatchback, is an audible speed limit warning. Set your maximum speed setting by

using the steering wheel button and a bleep will sound as you reach your desired limit; useful when going through reduced speed areas such as road works, villages or near schools.

Bluetooth® hands free telephone system will now be standard on all C+C’s and from ACENTA for the hatchback, also accessed via the steering wheel control button.

An MP3 jack socket is included on all Micras so you can easily play your personal collection of music through the vehicle’s own stereo system, which incidentally has also been improved with a double DIN audio unit (C+C and from ACENTA on hatchback).

The engine line up range remains unchanged with 1.2, 1.4 and 1.6 (160SR and C+C only) petrol and a 1.5dCi diesel being available. However, the 1.2 VISIA now has a power output of 65PS returning 47.9mpg on the combined cycle and a CO2 output of 139g/km. From ACENTA upwards the 1.2 engine remains with the current 80PS version.

Prices for the hatchback remain largely unchanged with the range starting from £7,495. The only increase is to TEKNA (was SPORT) of £150 – now £10,045; which is not so painful considering it now includes rear parking sensors, automatic lights and rain sensing wipers as standard. The C+C starts at £13,550 for the VISIA which is an increase of £50. The rest of the C+C range increases by £150 but these also have rear parking sensors as standard.

All Micras are covered by Nissan’s warranty of 3 years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first, plus 3 years for paint and 12 years anti-perforation from corrosion. Service times are 12 months or 12,500 miles for both petrol and diesel engines.
