Mazda announced today a new special edition version of the RX8, called the Spirit R, which will go on sale on its home market this November. The Spirit R is in fact the final special edition version of the model, as Mazda will stop the RX8 production next year, in June. The Spirit R RX8 is based on the Type RS and Type E versions of the sports car, and it will be available with a choice between a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed electronically-controlled automatic. As a parting gift, Mazda will sell the RX8 Spirit R with loads of equipment and features, including bespoke Recaro sport bucket seats, a piano black transmission tunnel trim, red brake calipers, a piano-black and bronze 19-inch alloys.

For the interior of the RX8 Spirit R, Mazda is also offering various badges, and leather surfaces with red stitching. The Spirit R will also come with a sports-tuned suspension system and more generous brakes.

The Mazda RX8 Spirit R will be priced from around 40,000 USD.
