Mitsubishi Evo Diesel Hybrid

The rumors about the next Mitsubishi Evo being a hybrid have started circulating quite a while back, but now, the British press releases even more shocking news. The 2013 Mitsubishi Evo will not just be a hybrid, but a Diesel Hybrid. We believe this rumor is a bit far-fetched, to say the least. In building a Mitsubishi Evo Diesel Hybrid, the Japanese carmaker could loose quite a big number of fans of the model. The sales of the Evo are mostly based on the fan factor, and the fans see the Evo as a turbocharged petrol burning rally car, not a diesel hybrid tree lover's ride.

Some say that by making the Mitsubishi Evo a diesel hybrid, the car would fit better in the current market conditions where fuel efficient, low CO2 emitting cars are growing in sales.

The Mitsubishi Evo is not a volume seller. The customers that go for this model usually follow their hart, and don't usually care to much about fuel consumption or CO2 emission regulations. Making the Evo a diesel hybrid would probably make them think twice before putting their money on the car.

The rumor says that although the 2012 Mitsubishi Evo will be a diesel hybrid, the company's engineers are trying to get it to the same performance levels as the current, petrol models.

The Mitsubishi Evo Diesel Hybrid is expected to hit 100 km/h in less than 5 seconds while emitting less than 200g/km of CO2.

The Mitsubishi Evo Diesel Hybrid will still feature the trick S-AWC four-wheel-drive system.
