The Opel Senator and Monza turn 30 years old as they were launched in early 1978. The Opel Senator was designed to offer comfort and elegance while the Opel Monza coupe combined the qualities of a sedan with the power of a sportscar.

Thirty years ago the Opel Senator offered steering wheel height adjustment, integrated air-conditioning, electric windows, heated seats and many other features as standard. One of the celebrities that drove an Opel Senator was Germany's boxing legend Max Schmeling.

The Opel Monza was the first coupe in its power class with a 6-cylinder, 3.0 liter engine developing 180 hp at 5,800 rpm or a 2.8 liter developing 150 hp.

The Opel Senator had a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 9 seconds, while the Monza was half a second faster. Both had over 200 km/h top speed.
