Over the week-end a new Renault concept surfaced the Internet - the Renault Neptun concept. When we saw this amazing design we just had to contact Dragos Pop, its author.

Dragos Pop is a 26 year old Romanian designer based in Bucharest. He's been studying design since the fifth grade and after he received his Industrial Design graduate diploma at the Art and Design University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania, he went on an also got a Masters Degree at the same institute.

This year he collaborated with Castagna Milano (does this name ring a bell? How about the Castagna Aznom ?) and is now a concept graphic artist for Advanced Mobile Applications.

The Renault Neptun was inspired by the fluid motion of the sea waves and its main goal is to express power and distinction. Talking about his incredible concept Dragos said: "When I started to work on this project I tried to capture the spirit of a powerful sea wave, that is beautiful to look at, but powerful enough to demand respect. That is why I named it Neptun, after the Roman God of the Sea."

The Renault Neptun is designed to be a SLR and Aston Martin Vanquish competitor.

It's clearly targeted towards the upper-class customers who seek elegance and refinement in their cars.

When asked why he chose the Renault brand Dragos said he appreciates the direction in which Renault goes with its most recent concepts.

In designing the Renault Neptun concept Dragos used 3D Studio MAX and V-Ray as 3D modeling tools and Photoshop for some post processing retouches.
