During the practice runs of the 2009 Petit Le Mans race series Scott Sharp got into a serious and spectacular crash. Sharp was driving an Acura race prototype when he lost control of the car and the side barrier. The Acura race car simply disintegrated while rolling a number of time. Fortunately, the driver was not seriously injured, although the crash looks pretty dramatic. The event took place in the third corner of the Road Atlanta track.
