Volvo announced today a new version of its hatchback - the Volvo C30 1.6D DRIVe - which is equipped with a Start/Stop system. The Volvo C30 1.6D DRIVe is powered by a 1.6 liter diesel engine that emits 99 g/km of CO2 and has a fuel economy of 74.3mpg on the combined cycle. This means the Volvo C30 1.6D DRIVe is able to run for 857 miles on a single tank of fuel.

The Volvo C30 1.6D DRIVe price will be announced closer to the moment when the car will go on sale next month.

Peter Ewerstrand, head of CO2 at Volvo Cars said "For the first time in Volvo's history we have a car that emits only 99 grams of CO2 per km,", "We've left absolutely no stone unturned in our determination to reach this target, and it's wonderful that we have succeeded,"
