This Volvo history video presents 81 years of Swedish engineering condensed in 8 minutes. The first Volvo car rolled off the production line on 14 April, 1927. It was an open top car powered by a 2.0 liter engine developing 28 hp. Volvo sold only 300 units during the first years of production. Volvo got its first influences from Detroit when Swedish engineers came home after working in the US automotive industry. Volvo's first big success came in 1944 under the name PV444, which as also very popular in the early days of rallying.
