According to Guinness, this is the world's smallest road legal car. The car is 4 ft 1.75 in (126.47 cm) long, 2 ft 1.75 in (65.41 cm) wide and it's 25 in (63.5 cm) tall. Believe it or not, this toy car is licensed to drive on public roads with a maximum speed of 25 mph (40 km/h). The smallest car in the world was built by Austin Coulson (USA). Guinness established the new record on September 7th, 2012 in Carrollton, Texas, USA. The car is built on a body used for a stroller. Its body is inspired by the 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air and its engine comes from a child's ATV. The car has a functioning windshield, including wipers, headlights, tail lights and indicators. Austin's car comes with a seat belt and a working horn. According to its builder, the car has a fuel economy of around 45 mpg. We're not really sure if Austin is going to drive his new pride and joy to work every morning, but we're pretty sure his kids are having the time of their life with this car.
In case you're not familiar with this subject, getting a vehicle to be approved for road use is a pretty complicated task. That particular car has to comply with an endless list of regulations, that do not refer to just the obvious issues, such as lights and seat belts. You have to take into account pedestrian safety, CO2 emissions, noise level, and countless others. It's amazing Coulson managed to fulfill all these requirements while putting them in such a small package.
