Chrysler revealed the new generation 300 back in January 2011, and today, the first details of its performance version, the 2012 300C SRT8 have surfaced the web. Previously, it was though that the Chrysler 300S will top the range of the new 2011MY 300, but recent developments say otherwise. A camouflaged 2012 Chrysler 300C SRT8 prototype was recently spied while testing on public streets.
Even though the front and rear end of Chrysler's 2012 300C SRT8 is covered, the sound of a HEMI V8 can't be easily dissimulated. Most sources believe Chrysler will equip the new 300C SRT8 with a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine developing 465 bhp and 630 Nm of torque. In comparison to the top of the range 2011 Chrysler 300, which has a
363 hp HEMI V8, the 2012 300C SRT8 will offer more than 100 extra horsepower, which will probably translate in quite a lot more fun. The engine will be mated to an automatic 5-speed gearbox with steering wheel mounted paddle-shifters. The 2012 Chrysler 300C SRT8 will also come with various 'tuner' parts, including a Brembo brake system, special wheels and a few other special items.
