The British press has revealed the initial 2012 Saab 93 info and is speculating that the third generation of the model will be premiered at the Paris auto show the same year. The 2012 Saab 93 will be wider than the current generation model and will measure 4.7 meters in length.

The 2012 Saab 93 will be powered by an electric powertrain and all-wheel-drive. The electric motor of the future 2012 Saab 93 will be developed by a North American manufacturer called American Axle and is expected to be more efficient than two-wheel-drive units.

The same sources also state that the 2012 Saab 93 will offer the alternative of a 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine borrowed from BMW, that's currently under the hood of various Mini Cooper models. Apart from the electric and petrol version, the 2012 Saab 93 will also offer the choice of diesels, but the details of this segment are not known yet.

The electric version of the 2012 Saab 93 will actually have two motors, one for the front wheels and one for the rear axle. The output of this version is still a mystery.

At launch, the 2012 Saab 93 is expected to be available in a hatch body style version only. However, further in life, the third generation 93 will also be sold as a station wagon and as a convertible.
