According to a recent rumor, the Italian carmaker is planing to market a 5-door version of the Alfa Romeo MiTo. The Alfa Romeo MiTo 5dr is expected to hit the market in 2013 as the facelift model. Apart from having an extra pair of doors, the Alfa Romeo MiTo 5dr will be built on a new platform that will debut with the facelift version. Apparently, the Alfa Romeo MiTo 5dr will borrow the platform from the Fiat Punto. The company aims to improve the handling characteristics of the model, which have been intensely criticized.
The same source also mentions that the new Alfa Romeo MiTo 5dr will also be sold on the United States market. The facelift version of the MiTo will be developed so it will comply with the
U.S. safety regulations. Apart from the Alfa Romeo MiTo 5dr, the Italian manufacturer will also launch on the U.S. market the new Giulia and it's future SUV.
