UK's Autocar has revealed today the first official Aston Martin Rapide image showing the model that will compete with the Porsche Panamera. The Aston Martin Rapide is expected to be launched this fall and will be powered by a 6.0-litre V12 engine developing around 480 hp. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed ZF automatic gearbox equipped with the company's Touchtronic control.

The Aston Martin Rapide is built on a long wheelbase version of the DB9's chassis and it's body lines stick to the ones of the concept. Autocar says the wheelbase of the Aston Martin Rapide is 255mm longer than the one of the DB9, having a total of 5 meters. The car is also taller.

The Aston Martin Rapide is expected to have a top speed of 180 mph and a 0 to 60 mph sprint time of around 4.5 seconds.

The Aston Martin Rapide price tag will be in the region of 140,000 pounds.
