Aston Martin revealed this week the convertible version of the Vanquish which, as you're probably expecting, is called the Volante. The Aston Martin Vanquish Volante comes with a multi-layer fabric roof that folds in around 14 seconds. The Vanquish Volante is powered by the same AM11 6.0-litre V12 engine as the coupe, which means it has an output of 573 PS (565 bhp) at 6,750 rpm and 620 Nm (457 lb ft) of torque at 5,500 rpm. The Volante version of the Vanquish weighs 1844 kg and it can get from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in around 4.1 seconds. Aston's official specifications say it can reach a top speed of 183 mph (295 km/h). The Aston Martin Vanquish Volante is rear-wheel-drive and it comes with a 6-speed Touchtronic 2 automatic/sequential manual transmission mounted in the rear, a carbon fiber propeller shaft and a limited slip diff.
The Vanquish Volante remains reasonable practical even with its roof down. Aston says it offers a 279-liter boot no matter of the roof is up or down.
As you can expect, in terms of exterior design, the Vanquish Volante borrows several styling cues from the One-77 supercar. These include the elegant waist, the elongated side strakes and the LED rear lights. The Vanquish Volante's carbon fiber body hides one of the most elegant car interiors available on the market today. Capacitive glass buttons with illumination and haptic feedback, Alcantara, a standard 1000Watt Bang & Olufsen BeoSound 15-speaker audio system, and a 6.5" LCD Screen all make sure you're going to have the most comfortable GT experience possible.
As far as safety goes, the Aston Martin Vanquish Volante comes with carbon ceramic brakes, DSC (with a Track mode), traction control, Positive Torque Control (PTC), and the usual ABS, EBD, and EBA. Yes, you also get a launch control function.
If you live in the United States, an Aston Martin Vanquish Volante is going to cost you at least $297,995 MSRP. For the UK, Aston sets the price of the Vanquish Volante at £199,995 RRP. In Dubai you're going to have to pay a bit more for a Vanquish Volante as its price there is $323,974 RRP. Aston says it's going to start delivering the Vanquish Volante in late 2013.
