Audi revealed today the new A3 (2013) model range, including the 3-door version of the model, as well as the high-end S-Line version of the hatchback. The Audi A3 (2013) comes with several design changes, in both its standard and S-Line versions. The front fascia of the new A3 (2013) features optional xenon plus headlights with LED daytime running lights, a re-designed front bumper and a slightly modified front grille. The rear of the 2013 A3 shows new LED taillights, while its side profile shows new deign lines. The 2013 Audi A3 has the same exterior measurements as its predecessor, however, it has a longer wheelbase (4.24 meters). The new A3 (2013) is 80 kg lighter than its predecessor is (the 1.4 TFSI weighs just 1,175kg).

At the interior, the new Audi A3 (2013) shows a re-designed instrument panel, with an optional 3D color display for the Driver’s Information System. It also comes with an ultra-thin electrically retractable MMI monitor, similar to the one see n on the new A1. Audi replaced the traditional handbrake lever of the 2013 A3 with an electromechanical parking brake. This gave them enough space to integrate a touchpad for the navigation system.

For the 2013 A3, Audi is offering its full range of safety systems, including radar-assisted adaptive cruise control, side assist, active lane assist, traffic sign detection, park assist and the pre sense basic safety system.

For entertainment purposes, the new A3 comes equipped with a Bang & Olufsen audio system and a WLAN hotspot.

Since the last version of the A3, Audi has worked hard on improving the hatch's efficiency. The 1.4 TFSI (122 PS), the 1.8 TFSI (180 PS) and the 2.0 TDI (143 PS) versions of the A3 (2013) are now 12% more efficient than before. Audi is now offering the seven-speed S tronic twin-clutch transmission for the 1.8 TFSI model, and a six-speed manual gearbox for the other two.

At launch, the new A3 will be available with front-wheel-drive only. Audi promises however, that in the future the 2013 A3 will be available with its quattro all-wheel-drive system too. A 1.4 TFSI version with cylinder on demand technology will be launched towards the end of the year. The ESP with the integrated electronic limited slip differential will continue to be offered on the 2012 version of the A3.

The 2013 Audi A3's price list for the UK market starts at £19,000 GBP. For other markets you will have to consult your local dealerships, since prices are not finalized yet.
