According to AutoExpress, the Audi R4 is in the works, which is the production version of the Audi e-Tron. They even managed to produce a number of renderings of the Audi R4 which seems to be a combination between the e-Tron and the R8 Spyder, but on a smaller scale.
The same source speculates that the new Audi R4 will share the same chassis with the next generation Porsche Boxster and Cayman. As far as the engine options go, the Audi R4 will have a range of petrol engines, with the top of the range being an electric model. This electric Audi R4 will come in direct competition with the Tesla Roadster.
The top of the range electric Audi R4 will share the powertrain of the e-Tron concept, meaning it will have four motors, one for each wheel, powered by lithium-ion batteries. The Audi R4 will have 313 hp and a neck braking 4,500Nm of torque. The top speed will be 124 mph and the 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time will be 4.8 seconds.
The petrol version of the Audi R4 will feature some of the engines that are already in the company's line-up.
