Audi unveiled today the S7 Sportback, after months of speculations and various information leaks. The sportier version of the A7 model range, the Audi S7 Sportback, will have its global debut at the 2011 IAA Frankfurt Auto Show this September. Just like the 2012 S6, S6 Avant and the new S8, the Audi S7 Sportback will be powered by a newly developed 4.0 TFSI v8 engine, equipped with twin turbocharging, which will take the new mode from 0 to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) in just 4.9 seconds. As you are probably imagining, the top speed of the S7 is electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph, more or less). The Audi S7 is capable of such performance thanks to its 309 kW (420 hp) and 550 Nm (405.66 lb-ft), which are available from 1,400 rpm up to 5,300 rpm.

Thanks to the Ingolstadt manufacturer's new "cylinder on demand" technology, which shuts down 4 of the cylinders when the extra power is not needed, the Audi S7 has a 9.7 liters of fuel per 100 km (24.25 US mpg) fuel economy on the combined cycle.

The Audi S7 measures 4,980-millimeter (16.34 ft) in length and has a 535 liters (18.89 cu ft) luggage capacity, which may be increased up to 1,390 liters (49.09 cu ft) by folding down its rear seats. The S7 has a lightweight body, made through hybrid aluminum construction, but Audi did not disclose its weight.

For the S7, Audi is offering 19" and 20" inch rims, internally ventilated disc brakes for both axles, matt black calipers and optionally, carbon ceramic brakes.

In terms of mechanics, the Audi S7 comes with 7-speed S tronic gearbox, the company's quattro AWD system, a self-locking center differential, torque vectoring, and dynamic steering, which varies its ratio in close relation to the speed of the vehicle.

At the interior, the Audi S7 comes with a set of exquisite front sport seats, covered in

Pearl Nappa leather and Alcantara, wood, aluminum, and carbon fiber styling accents, and illuminated door sill trims.

The S7's equipment list includes xenon plus headlights with LED daytime running lights, the MMI, and optionally, with the gadgets Audi is currently offering for its high-end models.

The Audi S7 price list and availability will be announced at a later date.
