Audi revealed today the new TT ultra quattro concept, which they are going to premiere at this year's Worthersee festival. The ultra quattro concept is basically a pumped up version of an Audi TT, which has also underwent a serious weight saving program. Audi says that the TT ultra quattro is a full 300 kg (661.39 lb) lighter than the closest version of the model. It weighs just 1,111kg (2,449.34 lb). The power of the Audi TT ultra comes from a 2.0 TFSI engine that has been upgraded and now develops 310PS (228 kW) and 400Nm of torque between 1,900 and 5,000 rpm. This means that the TT ultra has a power-to-weight ratio of 3.6 kg/hp (279PS per ton). Audi's official specifications of the TT ultra say that it can accelerate from nought to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 4.2 seconds and that it has a top speed of 170 mph (280 km/h). The TT ultra comes with an all-wheel-drive system and a 6-speed transmission.

To get the extra power and to reduce the engine's weight, Audi had to make several modifications. The Ingolstadt carmaker had to modify the TT's crankcase, crankshaft, balancer shafts, flywheel, sump, bolts and certain other ancillary units. This saved 25 kg. Audi says that they also lightened the TT's body structure by 43 kg and its detachable body parts by an additional 57 kg. The TT ultra comes with a carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) rear end, center tunnel, B-pillars and roof. Audi equipped the TT ultra with carbon-ceramic brake discs, aluminum calipers, a titanium exhaust system and CFRP wheels with aluminum spokes.

The suspension coil springs of the Audi TT ultra are made from fiberglass-reinforced polymer (FRP) instead of steel. To move the weight of the car to its center, Audi installed the lithium-ion battery of the TT ultra under the driver's seat.

The Audi TT ultra comes with a new body kit that includes a new front and rear spoilers, and a rear wing made of milled aluminum and carbon. At the interior, Audi's ultra TT comes with several new carbon parts, which include the center console, the door trim and the cross-bracing that replaces the rear seats. The TT ultra has the same fiberglass-reinforced polymer (FRP) bucket seats as the R8 GT.

Other innovations brought by the Audi TT ultra include the compact cameras that replace the side mirrors.
