BMW Air Bag Recall in US

 »  »  »

BMW announced yesterday a 200,000 Model Year 2004-06 US vehicles recall due to air bag problems. The models affected by the recall are certain Model Year 2006 3-Series, Model Year 2004-06 5-Series, and Model Year 2004-06 X3 vehicles, depending upon seat type.

BMW says the sensor mat may become damaged during vehicle usage depending upon the manner and frequency of the front passenger's entry and exit.

BMW will send letters to the owners that need to give attention to their cars in late September 2008. You may still drive you BMW, even if it's targeted by this recall, but the company says it would be better to check in with your dealer in case the air bag warning lamp, and the passenger

air bag "on-off" lamp are illuminated simultaneously. If this is the case, you should take care of the problem immediately.
