BMW announced that its ConnectedDrive system will use Google, and more specifically Googlemaps, for navigation. BMW ConnectedDrive using Googlemaps will not be available for the BMW Z4 and the BMW X3.

Prior to any journey you'll be able to log on to www.maps.google.co.uk from your PC, find your intended destination in advance and send it to your car and the BMW ConnectedDrive system.. The move means you'll save time with the exact destination and contact details stored in the car for future use. The Google feature has been introduced to the BMW ConnectedDrive at the same time with a news feed function. You can have up to 10 differently sourced RSS news

feeds sent to the car. The BMW ConnectedDrive can also show the weather outlook.

The new-look BMW ConnectedDrive package is free of charge to owners for three years.
