The European Federation for Transport and Environment have published a study on CO2 emissions divided by car manufacturers and country for the last year (2006). The French, Italian and Japanese groups have decreased their CO2 emissions while the German car manufacturers actually increased by 0.6% their CO2 emissions.
However, the German car manufacturers don't all share the responsibility. According to the study BMW have reduced their emissions by 2.5% while Daimler and Volkswagen increased their emissions by 2.8% and 0.9% respectively.
The figures, based on sales in Europe in 2006, are derived from official EU monitoring data
obtained by T&E under laws granting access to
official documents. T&E commissioned the
independent Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP) in London to analyse the data.
Let's hope that this year they'll do better.
