The first rumors of the electric Ford Focus have surfaced yesterday and today, The Blue Oval has released the first teaser image of the new version. Unfortunately, the electric Ford Focus teaser image does not show much, but then again, the electric version of the Focus should not be visually very different in comparison to the regular Focus. One thing the electric Ford Focus teaser image shows is the "Electric" badge on the front left door.

The electric Ford Focus will be based on the latest generation of the mode and will probably have its world debut at the Detroit auto show this year. The exact electric Ford Focus specs have not been revealed yet, but some speculations exists.

The electric Ford Focus is expected to have a 23kWh lithium-ion battery pack mounted in the trunk, which will power a 134 hp motor mounted in the front. It will be front-wheel-drive. The electric Ford Focus will be a city car, mostly, with a top speed of 140 km/h and a maximum range of around 160 km.

The car maker's CEO, Alan Mulally, will present the new electric Ford Focus this Friday at 11 AM PST at the 2011 International CES in Las Vegas.

More details and specs of the electric Ford Focus will be available soon.
