Recently, the electric Ford Focus has been caught on camera during testing, and with the new images, also came new details regarding the model. As seen in the images, the electric Ford Focus is based on the current, 2009 version of the Focus, which had its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The name of the electric Ford Focus is not known yet, but our sources believe it will get the BEV logo.

The preliminary specs of the electric Ford Focus say it has a 134 hp motor juiced by 23kWh lithium-ion batteries mounted in the boot. Where will the luggage go? The expected range of the electric Ford Focus revolves around the 160 km mark. Early speculations suggest the electric Ford Focus will be able to reach a top speed of 140 km/h, which is quite enough for city driving.

Although the prototype of the electric Ford Focus wears the skin of the current generation model, inside sources say the production version will be based on the new version. The electric Ford Focus is expected on the USA market this year, before hitting Europe in 2012.
