Ford recently released all the details of their new touring car, the Focus ST-R, which was announced back in September. The Ford Focus ST-R is powered by a 2.0-liter EcoBoost I-4 engine, developed in collaboration with the carmaker's various racing teams. Ford's Focus ST-R is intended for such races, as the Grand-Am's ST class, World Challenge's Touring Car Class, Canadian Touring Car and the 24-hour Nurburgring race.
The Ford Focus ST-R comes with various engine upgrades, which include a bespoke exhaust system, a re-mapped ECU, a high capacity radiator, a racing clutch, an oil to air oil cooler and a remote oil filter.
The engine of the Focus ST-R is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and a limited-slip diff.
Ford built the Focus ST-R on a seam-welded steel unibody chassis, which has a 20,000 lb.-ft/degree of torsional structural performance. The car is fitted with an FIA approved roll-cage.
