Together with the European debut of the latest generation 2012 Focus ST, ford also revealed the model's racing version, called the ST-R. The Ford Focus ST-R is basically a track car, ready to race "off the shelf". It is developed by the Ford Global Performance Vehicles group and can be raced in various series, including the Grand-Am ST, World Challenge TC and the Canadian Touring Car Series. Ford aims to introduce it to the 24 Hours of Nurburgring too.
Initially, Ford will make the Focus ST-R available in the United states and it will homologate it for American and Canadian touring car racing. Ford did not disclose a lot of details regarding the new Focus ST-R, but the Blue Oval does mention they tried to keep as many parts as possible from the production vehicle.
We'll have more details and specifications of the Ford Focus ST-R as soon as they're available.
