Ford revealed today the new generation 2012 Focus ECOnetic, ahead of its global debut at the Amsterdam Motor Show next week. Ford did not announce the price of the 2012 Focus ECOnetic yet, but it does say it will go on sale early next year. Ford's 2012 Focus ECOnetic is powered by a 1.6-litre Duratorq TDCi diesel engine, equipped with a common-rail fuel injection system, that outputs 105 PS. According to the official specs, the 2012 Ford Focus ECOnetic will offer a 80 mpg (less than 3.5 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers) fuel consumption and an ultra low 95 g/km CO2 emissions level.

To get this very good efficiency figures, Ford revised the new Focus ECOnetic's engine, optimizing its injection system, turbocharger,

and air cooling. Ford also reduced the internal friction of the engine.

Ford's new Focus ECOnetic also features a special aerodynamic package, that is meant to further improve its efficiency. The feature Ford is referring to is the Active Grille Shutter which comes as standard. Other fuel saving technologies featured by the 2012 Ford Focus ECOnetic include ultra-low rolling resistance tires and a revised final drive ratio, Auto-Start-Stop, Smart Regenerative Charging, an Eco Mode and a Shift Indicator Light.



Ford will offer the new 2012 Focus ECOnetic in two body styles, five-door and estate.
