Ford took its fans by surprise today, by revealing a station wagon (estate) version of the 2012 Focus ST. Even though the five-door 2012 Focus ST is Ford's first global performance car, the wagon version of the ST is made especially for the European market. The Ford Focus ST Wagon will be launched alongside the 5-door version of the model, and it will be powered by the same 2.0-litre EcoBoost engine. This means that the Focus ST wagon will develop 250 PS and 360 Nm of torque. Ford did not yet announce the 0-62 mph (100 km/h) acceleration time of the Focus ST wagon, nor its top speed. The Focus ST wagon has the same chassis, engine, sound and comfort as the 5-door model, and Ford promises it will offer the same driving attributes.

The Ford Focus ST Wagon is a bit different in comparison to the 5-door, when it comes to its rear suspension. The Focus ST estate has angled shock absorbers in order for it to have the same luggage capacity as the regular version of the model.

Just as the 5-door, the Focus ST Wagon was developed by Ford's Team RS in Europe and the Special Vehicles Team (SVT) in the United States. It features the same High pressure direct injection, low-inertia turbocharging and Twin-independent Variable Cam Timing (Ti-VCT) as the hatchback, and it's

equipped with the same 6-speed manual transmission. ford even gave it same the cool central exhaust system that the 5-door hatch has.

For reducing the unpleasant toque steer phenomenon, the Focus ST wagon comes with the Electronic Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) and the Torque Steer Compensation (TSC) systems, the Enhanced Torque Vectoring Control and the Cornering Under Steer Control (CUSC) systems.

The Ford Focus ST Wagon price list and availability will be announced at a later date.
