GM announced today that the HUMMER Driving Academy 2008, the first of its kind, will take place between 7 and 12 November this year in Morocco. The HUMMER Driving Academy 2008 will take 14 HUMMER H3s on a 1300km trip which includes the Sahara Desert. The vehicles used for the HUMMER Driving Academy 2008 are equipped with desert tires and GPS satellite navigation systems and are powered by a 3.7 liter 5-cylinder engine and an automatic gearbox.

The price for entering the HUMMER Driving Academy 2008 is 3,995 Euros per team which includes the use of the H3 vehicles and luxury hotel accommodation in some of Morocco's premier hotels.

HUMMER owners, friends and enthusiasts are being offered a unique opportunity to take vehicles to their limits in some of the most spectacular terrain in the world. The first HUMMER Driving Academy event takes place in Morocco from 7-12 November 2008 and will take a fleet of 14 HUMMER H3s on a 1300km route which includes the Sahara Desert.

The HUMMER H3s will carry necessary survival equipment, desert tires and GPS satellite navigation systems, but are otherwise standard, 3.7 liter 5-cylinder automatic H3s.

Each of the 14 teams consists of a driver and co-driver. They will be given full instruction on the specialized off-road driving and GPS navigation techniques, as they take in a route from the port of Agadir in southern Morocco, across a range of terrain.

The section between Taroudant and Marrakech takes in spectacular salt flats, before crossing tough

mountain trails en-route to Ouarzezate, then hitting the dunes of the Sahara desert for a crossing to Chegaga. An awe-inspiring dry lake bed will hone navigation skills on the way to Taliouine, before the participants return to Agadir. Participants will also spend one unforgettable night in a comfortable nomadic tent in Erg Chegaga.

The HUMMER Driving Academy event in Morocco is the first of a series of events which will be rolled out in 2009. Their aim is to offer HUMMER owners and their friends a series of unique off-road

experiences and to demonstrate the off-road capabilities that have made HUMMER a legend around the world.

The cost of participation in the 2008 HUMMER Driving Academy event is Euro 3.995 per team of two, which includes the use of the H3 vehicles and luxury hotel accommodation in some of Morocco’s premier hotels. These include the Hôtel Palais Salam in Taroudannt, the Hôtel Tikida Garden Marrakech, the Hôtel Club Hanane in Ouarzazate and the Hôtel Ibn Toumert in Taliouine. Only air fares and personal drinks are not included.
