Honda Press Release:

Honda (UK) launches its new TV commercial on Monday, 4 February - the second phase of its 'Problem Playground' campaign.

The 90-second advert follows print, online and radio activity - and highlights Honda's engineering innovations to reduce environmental impact.

Developed by Wieden and Kennedy London, the commercial also introduces the new Honda FCX Clarity - the world's first zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell car to enter production. The advert shows extreme displays of puzzle solving by teams of Honda associates to demonstrate Honda's passion for finding solutions to problems through engineering. The clip itself was a feat of engineering in its

own right - with thousands of Rubix cubes, four construction teams and a cast of over 140 people required to bring the ad to life.

The advertisement opens on abstract block colours wiping across the screen, and the shot turns out to be an extreme close-up of a Rubik cube. We soon see an army of Honda workers building a sculpture of Honda's hybrid engine using thousands of Rubik cubes. Inspired, the team then head outdoors to complete similarly challenging puzzles, each one representing an engineering problem solved by Honda, such as building energy-efficient solar panels. Even adding sugar to

their daily cup is an ingenious exercise in problem solving. The crowd then move on to build an enormous jigsaw model of the FCX Clarity - as Garrison Keillor's voice-over explains that when you love finding solutions every problem becomes a playground.

Ian Armstrong; Honda UK, Manager - Customer Communications, said: "For the past few years our campaigns have told different stories about Honda. This campaign takes this to the next level and allows us to showcase some of the many environmentally focused technology innovations we have been

developing since the 1950s as well as some our future products."

Kim Papworth, Creative Director Wieden + Kennedy said: "This ad celebrates the optimism and ingenuity of Honda and the human way they approach environmental engineering."

The commerical was created by Sam Heath and Frank Ginger, directed by Antoine Bardou-Jacquet and produced by Rachel Hough,
