Ken Block suffered a serious crash on Wednesday during the shakedown runs for the 2011 Rally of Portugal. As you'll be able to see in this video, he rolled his Ford Fiesta RS WRC five times before stopping on its roof. Even though he managed to get out of the crashed rally Fiesta on his feet, Ken was taken to the hospital for further investigations. The same happened with his co-pilot, Alex Gelsomino. Fortunately, they both got out of the hospital at this time, but an official statement says Ken Block will no longer race in the 2011 Rally of Portugal.
The Ford Fiesta RS WRC rally car Ken was racing in the time of the unfortunate event, seems to be completely destroyed, so it's a wonder he and his team mate came out uninjured.
The crash in Portugal is not all bad for Ken. He will now have time to prepare better for the next stage of the 2011 World Rally Championship, which will take place in Argentina.
