Lamborghini Sesto Elemento Previews Gallardo Replacement

 »  »  »

Our sources are reporting today that the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento concept is actually a preview of the Gallardo replacement. Lamborghini premiered the Sesto Elemento at the Paris auto show back in September last year. The car is made almost entirely out of carbon-fiber reinforced plastics and weighs just 2,202 lb (999 kg). Of course, Lambo's replacement for the Gallardo will not feature such an extensive use of carbon fiber. This will raise the cost of building the car, which in turn will result in a much higher price than what customers are prepared to pay. Ford example, Gallardo's replacement will not be equipped with CF wheels or suspension components. However, most of Sesto Elemento's carbon structure will be kept for the production version.

In terms of design, Lamborghini will keep all the major features of the Sesto Elemento, including the amazing looking dashboard, and the out-of-this world steering wheel.

The replacement of the Lamborghini Gallardo will weight just over 1,100 kg and it will be powered by the same 5.2-liter V10 naturally aspirated engine as the Sesto Elemento. This means the future Gallardo will develop 570 hp at 8,000 rpm and 540 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The extra weight however, will slightly diminish its performance numbers in comparison to the concept. Gallardo's replacement will

accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.1 seconds and will have a top speed of 340 km/h.

We'll keep you posted with the latest developments regarding the replacement of the Lamborghini Gallardo.

UPDATE: Unfortunately, this was an April Fool's Day joke. We'll have to wait a bit longer before seeing the Gallardo replacement.
