Mini unveiled today the high-performance Countryman JCW (John Cooper Works), which will have its public unveiling next week, during the opening days of the 2012 Geneva auto show. The Mini Countryman JCW will be launched on the market this fall, but its price list has not been announced yet. Here are a few quick facts about the Countryman John Cooper Works. Its power comes from a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine equipped with a twin-scroll turbocharger, petrol direct injection and variable valve control. The Countryman JCW is rated with an output of 160 kW/218 hp and 280 Nm / 207 lb-ft of torque. The John Cooper Works of the Minis usually have a neat little trick called an Overboost function. With this feature on, the Countryman JCW develops 300 Nm / 221 lb-ft of torque.
Its engine is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, or an optional 6-speed automatic transmission.
Mini Cooper rates the John Cooper Works Countryman with a top speed of 225 km/h / 140 mph (automatic: 223 km/h / 139 mph), and a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint time of 7.0 seconds. The efficiency figures of the Countryman JCW look quite promising for a car in its class. Its combined fuel consumption is rated at 7.2 liters per 100 km / 39.2 mpg (automatic: 8.0 liters / 35.3 mpg imp), while its CO2 emissions are at 167 g/km (187 6/km automatic).
Of course, the Mini Countryman JCW is not all go with no show. It comes with a less than discreet body kit, and various graphics. The aerodynamic kit of the Countryman JCW includes new front and rear bumpers, side skirts, wheel arch extensions, and a roof spoiler. The sporty look is completed by a set of 18-inch (19-inch optional) light alloy wheels, and a sports exhaust system. What you can't see in these images is its sports suspension and its DSC stability control with DTC.
At the interior, the Mini's JCW Countryman features a set of sport seats, a sports steering wheel, and model-specific displays and controls.
