Lamborghini has released yesterday the official Lamborghini LP700-4 specs, kind of. In fact Lamborghini has revealed the preliminary specifications of their new V12 engine and the new transmission which will power the Murcielago replacement, which many believe will be called the LP700-4. For the sake of the argument, we'll continue to call it the LP700-4, until Lamborghini decide to reveal its real name.

So, here it is. The Lamborghini LP700-4 will have a 6.5-liter V12 engine developing 515 kW (700 hp) at 8,250 rpm and 690 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm, just it was previously speculated. The engine of the Lamborghini LP700-4 will be coupled with the new Lamborghini ISR automated manual gearbox that promises to deliver minimal shift times, everyday

usability with low weight.

Lambo says the new V12 engine will enter production in early 2011, which means the Murcielago replacement will come around that time too. The supercar manufacturer says the engine of the Lamborghini LP700-4 will offer a rounded torque curve and will feature crankcase and the four-valve cylinder heads made from an aluminum-silicon alloy, a short-stroke layout, dry-sump lubrication and an intake system with four individual throttle valves.

The ISR (Independent Shifting Rod) transmission of the Lamborghini LP700-4 will offer 50 percent shorter shift times than the dual-clutch gearbox, and a low weight. The Lamborghini ISR gearbox manages to offer virtually parallel shifting, instead of the series conventional one. While one shifting rod is moving out of one gear, the second shifting rod can already engage the next. Moreover, the transmission weighs only 79 kilograms – a distinct benefit, even against comparable DSG transmissions, which are considerably heavier.
