According to the French press, the car maker is taking into account the possibility of building a spider or targa version of the newly launched Peugeot RCZ. The Peugeot RCZ spider or targa, which will also be based on the 308, aims to get into competition with such models as the Audi TT. However, this project has not yet received the green light.
The Peugeot RCZ spider or targa will most probably have a soft canvas roof that will impose some rigidity modifications. This will increase the weight of the car and the price tag. The Peugeot RCZ spider or targa will have lower performance numbers than the coupe, but will probably be powered by the same 200 hp turbo engine.
The Peugeot RCZ spider or targa will have to get some extra space to store the soft roof, which means the rear seat could go.
