Proton announced today that it will launch the cheapest car in Australia in 2010 as an answer to the current financial crisis. The new 2010 Proton sedan will be based on the Saga, that was recently launched in Malaysia, and will be powered by a 1.6 liter Campro engine. The name and the price of the new 2010 Proton sedan will be announced closer to its launch date. The company stated that the new sedan will also offer Lotus handling and engineering.
Proton also announced that it has severed ties with almost half its existing dealers and is now recruiting new high caliber ones in an effort to drive the brand forward in Australia.
