Proton announced that the new 2008 Proton GEN 2 in now available in UK showrooms. The 2008 Proton GEN 2 is powered by either a 1.3 liter engine or a 1.6 liter unit with a maximum output of 110 hp and 148 Nm of torque. Both engines have been engineered by Lotus.
The equipment list of the 2008 Proton GEN 2 includes Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution, reverse distance sensors and power assisted steering, engine immobiliser, alarm with ignition lock protection and remote central locking.
The 2008 Proton GEN 2 price for the UK market starts at 8,995 pounds.

The new 2008 Proton GEN-2 – even more car for your money
Proton Cars are pleased to announce the arrival of the new version of their popular GEN-2 hatchback, which is now available in dealerships across the UK.
The GEN-2 hatchback also benefits from a new sporty interior with red trim on the seats, doors and steering wheel as well as a re-designed dashboard and handbrake. There’s also a redesigned glove box for added comfort and convenience. Customers who choose the GLS model will benefit from a new cloth interior, whereas those opting for the 1.6 GSX model can expect leather seats. The latest GEN-2 has inherited a number of features from the GEN-2 Persona launched in March 2008, such as automatic central locking, remote operated boot release and door mounted window switches.
And it’s not just the inside that’s undergone a serious makeover. The new GEN-2 GSX model ups the sophistication level with its sweeping curves accentuated by a new rear spoiler, front and rear skirting. New alloy wheels and race-inspired black-backed headlamps complete the look. An aggressive bumper and grille on all models gives the GEN-2 maximum aerodynamic advantage.
Entertainment is provided by an integrated Blaupunkt radio/CD player with RDS and a four way speaker system. Also available as standard across the range are steering wheel mounted audio
controls. A Bluetooth hands-free kit which works through the audio system can also be fitted as an accessory.
The GEN-2’s 1.3 or 1.6 liter Lotus engineered CamPro engine delivers a maximum output of 110bhp and 148Nm of torque. To support this, an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution is standard along with side impact bars, crumple zones and anti-roll bar. Reverse distance sensors and power assisted steering on all GEN-2 models also help to deliver a stress-free drive. While away from the car, an engine immobiliser, alarm with ignition lock protection and remote central locking will all add to the peace of mind motoring.
