Renault Press Release:

LOGAN RENAULT ECO² CONCEPT SETS A NEW CO2 EMISSIONS RECORD OF JUST 71g/km AT THE 2007 MICHELIN-ORGANISED CHALLENGE BIBENDUM

Logan Renault eco2 Concept's exceptional success on the Challenge Bibendum adds weight to Renault's belief that it is possible to combine ecology and economy without detracting from performance.

A range of technical optimizations* and the 'eco' driving style of its driver enabled Logan Renault eco2 Concept to cover the 172.20km route of the 2007 Challenge Bibendum on a mere 4.69 liters of diesel fuel. This performance works out at an average fuel consumption of 2.72 litres/100km and CO2 emissions of just 71g/km!

During NEDC combined cycle homologation tests for the vehicle, Logan Renault eco2 Concept achieved a score of 97g of CO2/km, equivalent to fuel consumption of 3.8 litres/100km.

This result was improved over the route of the Challenge Bibendum thanks to the driver's use of the Gearshift Indicator and highlights the importance of the 'eco driving' factor.

After the rally, a classification of competing vehicles was drawn up based on the following criteria: an acceleration test, a slalom test, noise emissions and a regularity run. Out of an entry of 74 vehicles, Logan Renault eco2 Concept finished in second position! This excellent result demonstrates Logan Renault eco2 Concept's ecological credentials were not obtained to the detriment of performance which very much remains a feature of the car.

Logan Renault eco2 Concept's exceptional success on the Challenge Bibendum adds weight to Renault's belief that it is possible to combine ecology and economy without detracting from performance. Renault wishes to use the occasion to reaffirm that the most efficient ecological solutions are those that are the most readily accessible to the highest number of people.
