Skoda released today the first details and images of the new Skoda Fabia R2 rally car, which apparently, was in development for the last two years. The Skoda Fabia R2 rally car is powered by a naturally aspirated 1.6-liter engine, with 16V, developing 132 kW at 7,500 rpm and 194 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. The engine of the Skoda Fabia R2 is mated to a Sadev five-speed transmission which sends the output to the front wheels. Skoda did not release many details regarding the new Fabia R2 rally racer, however they do say it is equipped with Magneti Marelli engine electronics.

The Skoda Fabia R2 is based on the factory production car, but it has suffered extensive modifications in terms of engine, undercarriage,

axle kinematics, and gearbox. These changes have been developed by Skoda in collaboration with Impromat Car - a company which will also handle the distribution of the new racer.

The Skoda Fabia R2 has received the FIA homologation for rallying. The price of the new rally car is set at 62,000 EUR.
