The new rumor is that the Japanese carmaker is going to bring back the Toyota MR2. The Toyota MR2 comeback is going to take shape in the form of a Prius coupe - a high performance hybrid to rival the Honda CR-Z. The new Toyota MR2 - Prius coupe will be powered by a modified version of the current Prius' powertrain, coupled with a rear-wheel-drive system.
The Toyota MR2 replacement will be priced around the 22,000 Euros mark and as Toyota's executive vice president Masatami Takimoto says it will be fun to drive and affordable.
We guess the main challenge for Toyota will be to develop a hybrid system that you'd actually want to drive. It will have to deliver fast response and acceleration, and at the same time not empty the batteries in a half a mile.
