The Japanese carmaker has unveiled today the Toyota TF109 race car with which it will compete in the 2009 Formula 1 World Championship. The Toyota TF109 has been designed to offer the company its first grand prix victory.

The Toyota TF109 is powered by a 2.4 liter V8 engine that has a maximum speed of 18,000 rpm (limited by FIA regulations) and outputs around 740 hp. The engine of the Toyota TF109 is coupled with a 7-speed gearbox and the car weighs, including the driver and the camera, 605 kg. The Toyota TF109 has a monocoque body made from molded carbon fiber and sits on a carbon fiber suspension with double wishbones with carbon fiber trackrod and pushrod.

The development of the Toyota TF109 has began in October 2007, as soon as the new FIA regulations have been announced.
