During last week-end, Toyota's motorsport president John Howett, said the team will not enter the 2010 F1 season unless the rules published by the governing body of the sport are changed. Toyota's position on the matter is also shared by Ferrari's president Luca di Montezemolo who is also a strong critic of the 40 million pound ($60.19 million) budget cap which is to be introduced in 2010.
This rule introduced by FIA aims to offer a chance for small teams to enter the Formula One series and also to keep existing ones from leaving in case they get into financial trouble, as it was the case with Honda.
Toyota threatens to leave F1 because this rule will create a two-tier championship which Howett believes to be unfair.
