General Motors and Daewoo introduced the 2008 Daewoo Winstorm and a more sporty version the 2008 Daewoo Winstorm X TREME. The 2008 Daewoo Winstorm features: front parking assist sensors, water-repellent front side windows, active headrests, corrosion-proof muffler, fold-type remote keyless entry system, and automatic level ride control.

Korea's first low-pollution SUV is sportier and safer than ever
Incheon - GM Daewoo Auto & Technology (GM Daewoo) has introduced the 2008 model year Winstorm. The latest edition of the popular SUV, which features an array of new safety and convenience features together with a new sporty X TREME version, goes on sale nationwide on August 16.
GM Daewoo has factored in the needs and suggestions of Winstorm users in the 2008 model:
- In a first for domestically produced SUVs, the 2008 Winstorm offers front parking assist sensors
in addition to rear sensors on the LT DLX and higher trim levels.
- Available on the LT and higher trim levels are water-repellent front side windows.
- New active headrests, which significantly improve front occupant protection in the event of a rear impact, come standard on the X TREME and higher trim levels.
- A corrosion-proof muffler and fold-type remote keyless entry system are standard on all models.
- Automatic level ride control is now on all models.
The X TREME version is designed for those who are looking for a more dynamic and sporty SUV experience. It comes with distinctively designed sports headlamps with black bezels, chrome-coated bumper grills, satin silver door handles, newly designed 18-inch alloy wheels, clear-type taillamps and a large muffler. With a red and black color scheme accentuated by a red-stitched gear knob, steering wheel, leather seat covers and door trim, the interior has the look and feel of a sports car.
All Winstorm models have now been designated low-pollution vehicles, another first for Korean-built SUVs. This exempts Winstorm buyers from paying environment improvement charge for the next five years and gives them a 50 percent discount on parking fees at public parking lots in the capital area.
According to Rick LaBelle, Vice President of GM Daewoo Commercial Operations, “The 2008 Winstorm offers our customers an even safer, more stylish and sportier driving experience. As a low-pollution vehicle, it is also economical. We are confident it will build on the achievements of the original model and continue GM Daewoo’s SUV success story.”
Since the model’s launch in July 2006, GM Daewoo has sold more than 30,000 Winstorms in Korea and exported more than 100,000 SUVs based on the Winstorm architecture about 70 markets in Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East.
To celebrate the Winstorm’s success and the launch of the 2008 model, GM Daewoo will offer free service check-ups and leather cleaning kits to all current Winstorm owners from September to October.
The 2008 Winstorm is priced as follows:
- Five-Seater: 2WD LS: KRW 20,470,000 ~ 21,100,000; 2WD LT: KRW 22,370,000 ~ 27,070,000; 4WD LT: KRW 24,020,000 ~ 28,720,000; 4WD LTX: KRW 29,880,000.
- Seven-Seater: 2WD LS: KRW 20,870,000 ~ 21,500,000; 2WD LT: KRW 22,770,000 ~ 27,470,000; 4WD LT: KRW 24,420,000 ~ 29,120,000; 4WD LTX: KRW 30,280,000.
