Few would argue that Subaru’s now-iconic WRX has ever been the picture of pulchritude. Quite the contrary, if we’re to be honest. Menacing? Arguably. Purposeful? Doubtlessly. But pretty? Not so much.
Why, then, has there been so much hand-wringing over the leaked shots of the 2008 iteration of Subaru’s hero car? Well, perhaps because we were all hoping for the best, or because impressive-looking newcomers like the Honda Civic Si, Volkswagen GTI, and Mazdaspeed3 have all made the scene since the current car first graced show stands.
That aside, today we bring you these first-look WRX sedan shots, courtesy of Inside Line. And while these early shots don’t reveal the entire sedan (namely, the rear end), it does look markedly more unified and attractive than the five door, perhaps in part because the silver paint mutes the front-end brightwork, or arguably because the five-door hatchback’s rear three-quarter view is so fussy, that one can’t help but imagine the sedan being a bit cleaner.
