Ford announced yesterday the 2009 Ford Escape NHTSA rating (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration). The 2009 Ford Escape received a 5-star safety rating from the NHTSA in both front- and side-impact tests. The Ford Escape Hybrid and Mariner Hybrid received the same top rating that outpaces the Toyota Highlander Hybrid and Toyota Prius.
The systems equipping the 2009 Ford Escape that contributed to obtaining the highest safety rating include dual front airbags, headliner mounted side curtain airbags, four-wheel anti-lock brakes, Ford AdvanceTrac with RSC (Roll Stability Control) and tire pressure monitoring system.
