The journalists from AutoExpress published an interesting comparison, between the new 2011 Vauxhall VXR8 and the Lotus Carlton, whish also based on a Vauxhall. The Lotus Carlton was produced between 1990 1992 and is based on the a Vauxhall Carlton (Opel Omega) sedan. It is powered by a 3615 cc engine developing 377 hp (281 kW) thanks to twin Garrett T25 turbochargers. In terms of performance, the Lotus Carlton is able to get from 0 to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds and has a top speed of 177 mph (285 km/h).

Vauxhall's new 2011 VXR8 is powered by a monster 6.2-litre V8 engine which sends 431 PS and a 550 Nm of torque to its rear wheels. The official figures say the 2011 Vauxhall VXR8 needs only

4.9 seconds for the 0-62 mph trip. The VXR8's top speed however, is electronically limited to 155 mph.
