Various sources are reporting today that the next generation Audi RS6 might come earlier than expected, in 2012. The new info regarding the 2012 RS6 says Audi is rushing its development in order to have a competitor for BMW's new M5, which is just around the corner. The details of the 2012 Audi RS6 suggest two engine options for the future generation model. Audi might equip the 2012 RS with either a 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 or a larger V10 5.0 TFSI unit. In either case, the 2012 Audi RS6 is expected to come with an output of around 600 hp.
We can make some further speculations regarding Audi's future RS. Most probably it will come with the quattro all-wheel-drive system and a double-clutch transmission with steering wheel mounted paddle-shifters.
Apart from the BMW M5, 2012 Audi RS6 will also have to compete with the new Mercedes E63 AMG.
