Fiat unveiled today the new generation 2012 Punto, ahead of the model's world debut at the 2011 IAA Frankfurt Auto Show. The 2012 Fiat Punto price list will be announced at a later date, as the Italian car manufacturer announced it will put it on sale at the beginning of next year. Apart from the obvious design changes, the 2012 Punto also comes with a new 85 HP 0.9 TwinAir turbo engine and a revised 85 HP 1.3 Multijet unit.

Fiat's 2012 Punto 0.9 TwinAir turbo develops 85 hp at 5500 rpm and 145 Nm of torque at 2000 rpm. The new engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission and Fiat says it has a 98 g/km CO2 emissions level. The 2012 Punto Twin Air offers two driving modes: normal, with full engine performance, and

eco, which enables the engine to emit less CO2.

The 2012 Fiat Punto 1.3 16V Multijet has the same horsepower output as the 0.9-liter model, but it develops more torque (200 Nm at 1500 rpm). It also has a lower CO2 emissions level of just 90 g/km.

In terms of design, Fiat gave the 2012 Punto new front and rear bumpers, new indicators, a new set of 15" alloy rims and additional exterior finishes (Turquoise, Ruby Red and Graphite Grey). At the interior, the 2012 Punto comes with new seats, and a re-styled dashboard.

The equipment list of the new Punto includes the Blue&Me infotainment system, Stop&Start technology with a Gear Shift Indicator, and the usual safety system you can find on any modern vehicle.
