Audi revealed today the new 2014 RS6 Avant, which is going to be available for ordering starting next year. If you're looking for the fastest way of getting your groceries home from the market, the new 2014 Audi RS6 Avant is probably your best choice. With a monster 4.0 TFSI twin-turbo V8 engine under its hood, Audi's 2014 RS6 Avant is able to get from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 3.9 seconds. This is supercar performance! Audi rates their new 2014 RS6 with a top speed of 189.52 mph (305 km/h). The 2014 RS6 is able to offer such blistering performance because it has an output of 412 kW (560 hp) between 5,700 rpm and 6,700 rpm and 700 Nm (516.29 lb-ft) of torque between 1,750 rpm and 5,500 rpm. However, you won't be able to get your 2014 Audi RS6 to 189.52 mph (305 km/h) unless you get the optional Dynamic plus package.
In standard form, the new Audi RS6 (2014) is electronically limited to 155.34 mph (250 km/h). The Dynamic package will get you to 173.98 mph (280 km/h). Even though it's able to offer incredible levels of performance for its size and class, the new RS6 Avant (2014) is rated with a fuel economy of 24.00 US mpg / 28.8 UK mpg / 9.8 liters per 100 kilometers. Audi did not yet disclose the CO2 emissions of the new RS6 (2014). The new RS6 is around 100 kilograms (220.46 lb) lighter than its predecessor, which means it's more agile and economic and that it offers better handling and performance.
The engine of the new Audi RS6 Avant (2014) is mated to an 8-speed tiptronic transmission and the quattro permanent all-wheel drive system with torque vectoring and a self-locking center differential. To make the 2014 RS6's engine more compact, Audi mounted the intercooler in the inside V of the cylinder banks, as well as the exhaust side of the cylinder heads. The intake side is outside. To get a "soundtrack" worthy of such a machine, Audi equipped the 2014 RS6's exhaust system with switchable flaps.
To increase the fuel economy of the 2014 RS6 Avant, Audi equips it with a cylinder on demand (COD) system, which shuts down the intake and exhaust valves of cylinders 2, 3, 5 and 8 when their extra power is not required.
The 2014 Audi RS6 Avant comes with a standard air suspension that lowers the estate's ride height by 0.79 inches (20 millimeters) when the "dynamic setup" is engaged. Optionally, you can equip your 2014 RS6 with the tauter sport suspension plus with Dynamic Ride Control (DRC). This suspension offers improved body roll stability thanks to steel springs and three-way adjustable shock absorbers that are interconnected diagonally by oil lines and a central valve. For stopping, Audi's 2014 RS6 uses six-piston calipers and 390 millimeters (15.35 in) brake discs on the front axle. Optionally, you can get 420 millimeters (16.54 in) carbon fiber-ceramic brake discs.
For a truly sporty experience, Audi made it so that you can completely deactivate the electronic stabilization control (ESC), which also has a Sport mode.
The 2014 Audi RS6 Avant comes with 20- or 21-inch alloys, two appearance packages (Matte Aluminum or Carbon), a flat-bottomed, three-spoke, multifunction steering wheel, illuminated door sills, a shift light and of course, RS sport seats. The new RS6 (2014) comes with four seats as standard, but you can order it with an optional three-seat rear bench. It has a 1,680-liter (59.33 cu ft) boot.
