2015 BMW X6M Sets 8:20 Minutes Nurburgring Lap Time

 »  »  »

Various unofficial sources are reporting today that the 2015 BMW X6M managed to run a lap of the Nurburgring in just 8 minutes and 20 seconds. Well, if this turns out to be true, it means that, around the Green Hell, BMW's 2.3-ton coupe SUV is just around 5 seconds slower than the new Audi RS3. At first glance, this might look like Goliath finally managed to win against David, but don't jump to conclusions just yet. This might not be the most the 2015 BMW X6M has to offer. Reportedly, BMW M project manager Herbert Bayerl, stated last year that he expects the 2015 X6M to be just as fast around the 'Ring as the E92 M3 Coupe. At one point, German journalist Horst von Saurma managed to take the E92 M3 Bimmer around the Nordschleife in just 8 minutes and 5 seconds.

We've just compared the massive 2015 BMW X6M with an AWD hatchback and a legendary, high-performance, coupe. So, this does not make it justice. So far, one of the fastest SUVs around the Nurburgring is the Range Rover Sport SVR, which managed a record lap time of 8:14 minutes. Unofficially, the Porsche Cayenne GTS accomplished the task in around 8:19 minutes. In conclusion, our guess is that the 2015 BMW X6M has a lot more to offer than 8:20 minutes. To go even further, we have to say, the Mercedes GLE63 AMG sure has its hands full...
